Mackenzie: Thanks for joining us on our newest edition of Meet Your Recruiter with Spotter Staffing. Today we have Jessica, our newest recruiter at Spotter. Hi Jessica, thanks for joining us.

Jessica: Hi, thank you for doing this.

Mackenzie: Well, we’re so excited to have you at Spotter and to get to know a little bit more about you today. So first question that I always ask people is if you could kind of walk us through what your role is at Spotter and kind of what you do on a day-to-day for us.

Jessica: Yeah, so I am a senior recruiter here at Spotter. So I connect therapists and teachers with open positions with schools in the Chicagoland area. I specifically focus on the south suburbs.

Mackenzie: Awesome. Yeah, I know you, you’ve only been here a little bit of time, but you’re already helping a lot of people. You’re already making great connections. So I know that we love having you and it looks like therapists and teachers in our community love working with you too. So that’s awesome. If you were working with a therapist or a teacher looking for a new position, do you have like a piece of advice that you’d give them or any kind of information you’d want to share with them as they’re looking for that new career?

Jessica: Yeah, I think a big thing is follow your gut, you know, if you’re looking for a role and for some reason it doesn’t sound, feel like a good fit for you, um, then you’re not going to enjoy working in that role, so, you know, take a second to really think about I What you want out of a position and pull the top three things or top two things that you really, really want. And then think about that while you’re looking at jobs, talking to recruiters and interviewing because if something doesn’t feel right to you, it’s not going to be right when you get in there. So you want to, you know, make sure, you know, it’s good fit for them and it’s good fit for you.

Mackenzie: Yeah, absolutely. I love that. I know when I first got reached out to by Spotter, I looked into them and I was so excited at all the mission and how we help people in the community and how we’re really working towards making better classrooms for students. So I think that that really resonated with me when I was interviewing and I think a lot of people that we work with, obviously, their goal is to improve the lives of their students to help. people, um, and children in Chicago and Texas. So I think if that really matters to you, if that’s what you’re working towards, then definitely follow that into your job search process, wherever it leads you. Um, as far as like personal development and being in a career, I know you’ve been a recruiter for a while now. Is there like a big lesson that you’ve learned in your time or anything that you would share as like a piece of wisdom?

Jessica: Yeah, I think even, um, coming off of that last question, like following your instincts and, um, trust yourself, I think a lot of us these days have imposter syndrome, um, but you need to learn to trust yourself and, you know, be adaptable to situations, but know that, you know, you got this, you know, so that’s one thing that I’ve had to learn and overcome, but, and I still feel sometimes, but, you know, yeah. I’ve had a good career as a recruiter. So I need to just remind myself sometimes, like, you’re really good at this, you know, you’re doing, um, and I think everyone kind of feels that way sometimes, so just, you know, remembering who you are and to trust yourself.

Mackenzie: Yeah, I love that. I think that that’s great. I know that there’s a lot of, like, stuff we see on social media all the time and everything can get a little bit overwhelming or we have 97 things to do in a classroom in a day and it can feel impossible or overwhelming, but definitely everybody who works with Spotter and for Spotter is just an amazing human and we try to remind them all the time, but if you haven’t heard it today, you’re awesome. Thanks for watching this. Thanks for being part of Spotter and like Jessica said, you got this. So thank you for answering those kind of professional Spotter-related questions, but we have a couple kind of fun ones to get to know you a little bit better. My first one is, what is your favorite movie?

Jessica: So my favorite movie is P.S. I Love You. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen it, but it’s such a good one.

Mackenzie: It makes me cry.

Jessica: It’s a good cry movie, like if you ever feel like you just need to get it out, you know.

Mackenzie: Yeah, that’s absolutely, that has to be one of the best rom coms of all time, and I don’t know that it’s that funny, but Harry Connick’s great in it, and it’s a beautiful movie.

Jessica: Yeah, that’s a good cry one. Very true. Very true.

Mackenzie: Okay. If you were planning a dream vacation, would it be to Ireland to see where they filmed PS I love you? Or would it be…

Jessica: I do really want to go there, but my like top, top right now is Japan. I love the culture. I love the food. If I could eat an omakase meal every day, like I just love sushi. So that’s my top right now.

Mackenzie: Awesome. All right. Well then I have one last question for you and we’ll let you get back to your day because I know that you’re busy. But if you could meet any celebrity, who would it be?

Jessica: Ariana Grande.

Mackenzie: Is that Wicked related or just music related?

Jessica: I love her. I’ve loved her since before she was even on Victorious. She was on Broadway before in 13. And then I love, I’ve just loved her, her whole career. And I do happen to love Wicked. That was amazing. I love that movie.

Mackenzie: That’s a great answer. Well, thank you for letting us get to know you a little bit better. Thanks for letting us hear a little bit of what goes on in your day to day and your insights. So thank you for joining us today. Thanks to everyone at home for watching this, and we’ll see you on our next edition of Meet Your Recruiter with Spotter.

Jessica: Thank you.
