Spotter Staffing had an eventful time at the Illinois Council for Exceptional Children (ICEC) 2024 Fall Convention. This gathering offered a tremendous opportunity for special education professionals to exchange insights, explore new strategies, and collaborate on making Illinois classrooms more inclusive and supportive for special education students.
Our team members, Beth Nolan and Rhonda Gumbel-Thomas, were delighted to attend and connect with dedicated special education teachers, administrators, and advocates from across Illinois. The energy and passion of the ICEC community were inspiring, fueling new ideas and reinforcing our commitment to supporting exceptional students and educators alike.
Connecting with Educators Committed to Inclusion
We are so grateful to everyone who took the time to engage with us at the convention. Beth and Rhonda were thrilled to connect with a community deeply committed to advancing special education. They engaged in conversations about career development, special education law, the shortage of school talent, and more.
The positive exchanges and shared dedication to inclusive education left Beth and Rhonda even more motivated to support teachers and specialists as they continue to shape the future of special education in Illinois.
Insights Gained from ICEC 2024
Beth’s Perspective: “Attending the conference was such a heartwarming experience because everyone there was so kind and willing to share their insights. The attendees were not only helpful but also deeply passionate about supporting schools and students. The main topic that kept coming up in our conversations was how challenging it has become to find excellent special education teachers for schools in Illinois. It was inspiring to see so many people committed to finding solutions to this important issue, and it just reaffirms for me how important it is for all of us at Spotter to connect these wonderful schools with the highest-caliber talent!”
Rhonda’s Reflections: “I was incredibly impressed by the many aspiring special education teachers I met at the conference. It was inspiring to see their enthusiasm for the field and their eagerness to grow. Topics like emotional regulation, leadership, and inclusion sparked a lot of thoughtful discussions throughout the event. One of my biggest takeaways was how excited these future educators were to dive into special education laws and classroom practices—showing their dedication to creating inclusive and supportive learning environments for all students. We are so glad to have met these wonderful people, and look forward to having them join the Spotter Staffing herd.”
Spotter Staffing’s Commitment to the Special Education Community

We connect teachers and specialists with rewarding career opportunities and resources that enable them to succeed in their roles. Attending the ICEC convention strengthened our understanding of Illinois’ special education landscape, helping us tailor our efforts to meet the evolving needs of schools and educators.
While special education talent can be hard to find, the members of Spotter Staffing’s own herd showcase every day how dedicated and caring professionals make lasting impacts in a school environment. Finding the right opportunities for the right school talent is a privilege Spotter takes with pride, and we look forward to continuing to attend these conferences and expand our network of teachers and therapists.
