About Spotter Staffing

Built to Support Those Who Serve Diverse Learners.

After successful corporate careers, lifelong friends Ryan Cleaveland and Ryan Allen founded Spotter Staffing to transform the staffing industry—making it easier for school-based therapists to thrive by removing financial and professional roadblocks.

Spotter Staffing

Built to Support Those Who Support Kids

After nearly two decades in staffing, Ryan Cleaveland left his cushy corporate job to embrace a new challenge—starting his own business. At the same time, his best friend from college, Ryan Allen had left advertising, earned his law degree, passed the bar, and begun handling business development for a law firm. As they tell it, Ryan Allen had just begun his new career and he and his wife had just had twins, which grew their family to five.

That’s when his best friend told him he had an idea to disrupt the staffing industry and suggested they do it together.
And so they did. The Ryans, as they’re called—or RC and RA—set out to find a way to provide staffing for a highly ethical, selfless industry…and found that with school-based therapists.

They found on-the-job responsibilities, rising university costs, and continuing education were crippling therapists, preventing them from what they do best—support the needs of children.

Spotter Staffing is built around helping them relieve some of those pressures and providing an easy way to prioritize their career needs.

The Spotter Staffing Team

Leadership

Ryan Cleveland

Ryan Cleveland

Co-Founder

I co-founded Spotter with Ryan Allen because we wanted to create a company that made a real difference—not just for us, but for educators, schools, and kids.

We saw that the typical staffing model, with buyouts and restrictive agreements, often limited opportunities for teachers and schools.

We introduced a contract-to-hire model that put control back in their hands, allowing schools and providers to choose what works best for them and, ultimately, what’s best for students. As CEO, I focus on strategy and growth, but I also believe in “picking up the shovel” and taking ownership wherever I’m needed.

I’m most proud of the opportunities Spotter has created—for our staffing team, our school staff, and the students they serve. Outside of work, I split my time between Chicago city life and quiet escapes in rural Michigan or on a beach somewhere with my wife. I’m passionate about health, fitness, and personal development, and my favorite nights are Sunday evenings when Dionna and I grab dinner together and reset for the week. I’m excited about what’s next for Spotter—we’re just getting started, and the impact we can make is limitless.

I lead our efforts in Texas, working closely with schools, team members, and providers to make sure we create an environment where everyone can succeed.

I’m most proud of the relationships we’ve built along the way—our team, our school partners, and the incredible professionals who serve students every day. Together, we’ve grown Spotter into a company that makes a measurable difference in kids’ lives.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife, Ashley, and our three kids, Jaxton, Penelope, and Asher, who keep us young and busy with their activities. We enjoy cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, spending weekends with friends, and making the most of our time together. What excites me most about Spotter’s future is that there’s truly no limit to how many students we can help. We’ve built strong systems to support our staff, which means they get to focus their energy where it matters most—on kids.

Some of my proudest moments come from visiting schools and hearing how our staff are changing students’ lives—like the contractor who built a school garden that became a hub for learning and community.

Outside of work, you’ll find me with my family, cheering on the Bears and White Sox, volunteering with Special Olympics, or enjoying the outdoors. I’m excited to see Spotter continue to grow, innovate, and make an even bigger impact on students and schools across the country.
