Self Contained – Special Education Teacher

Job Title: Special Education Teacher (BD/ED Focus)

What You’ll Need on Day One

• Experience supporting students with serious Behavioral Disorders (BD) or Emotional Disabilities (ED).

• The ability to establish strong systems, structure, and consistency in the classroom.

• A confident, authoritative presence that commands respect while remaining supportive and student-focused.

What to Expect Your First Week

• A 5-day structured onboarding process with HR and shared service teams.

• Orientation to school systems, student needs, and available resources.

• Opportunities to collaborate early with staff so you’re fully prepared when students arrive.

A Typical Day in This Role

• Lead a small classroom of 5–6 high school students with significant behavioral and emotional needs.

• Deliver academic curriculum while maintaining a highly structured, safe, and regulated learning environment.

• Support students in developing emotional regulation, focus, and follow-through on assignments.

• Collaborate with related service providers and staff to reinforce consistency and support across settings.
