Qualifications:
Valid Texas State Teaching Certificate 
CORE EC-4 and Sped EC-12

Hours:
37.5 hours per week
Tuesday – Friday (4 day/week district schedule)
7:00 – 4:30 

Compensation: $45/hour and up, depending on experience.

Position Summary:

The THRIVE Classroom is a specialized instructional setting designed to support students with significant social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs. The program emphasizes Therapeutic, Holistic, Responsive, Individualized, and Values-based Education (THRIVE) to help students build coping strategies, social-emotional regulation, and academic success in a structured, supportive environment.

The THRIVE Special Education Teacher provides individualized instruction aligned with each student’s IEP, implements evidence-based behavioral and instructional strategies, and collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team to promote student growth and transition success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver differentiated instruction in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional domains consistent with students’ IEPs and TEKS standards.

• Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans (BIPs) using positive behavior supports and data-driven decision-making.

• Collaborate with related service providers, counselors, and behavior specialists to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.

• Use trauma-informed and social-emotional learning (SEL) practices to foster a safe, respectful classroom climate.

• Maintain accurate records of progress, data collection, and IEP documentation in compliance with IDEA and Texas Education Agency requirements.

• Participate in ARD/IEP meetings, communicate progress with parents and guardians, and adjust instruction as needed.

• Supervise and coach instructional aides and support staff within the THRIVE classroom.

• Integrate restorative practices and teach self-regulation skills to help students succeed academically and behaviorally.

Qualifying Skills:

• Knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies, functional behavior assessments, and social-emotional learning frameworks.

• Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and commitment to collaboration and inclusion.

Work Environment:

The THRIVE classroom provides a small student-to-teacher ratio and focuses on relationship-based, therapeutic instruction. Teachers work within a multidisciplinary support team, including counselors, LSSPs, BCBA/behavior specialists, and administrators.
