Occupational Therapist (K–2 School)

Hours: 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Pay: Up to $55 per hour
Location: Kindergarten–2nd Grade Building
Caseload: 44 students (14 consult-only) + supervision of a COTA with 20 years of experience


About the Role

Spotter is seeking a high-performing Occupational Therapist to support a K–2 school building with primarily early childhood learners (44 students, 14 of which are consult only). This role focuses on delivering impactful OT services, collaborating with staff and families, managing a large and diverse caseload, and providing structured supervision to an experienced COTA who carries their own caseload of 32 students.

You’ll support students with fine motor skills, sensory processing, handwriting, emotional regulation, ADLs, perceptual skills, executive functioning, postural control, assistive technology/equipment, and classroom participation. The school uses Embrace for documentation and IEP management.


What You’ll Do

  • Direct Intervention & Therapy Planning (Provide high-quality OT services to K–2 students with varying levels of support needs, Develop and implement treatment plans targeting fine motor skills, handwriting, sensory processing, emotional control, ADLs, perception, and early academic readiness, Utilize assistive technology and adaptive equipment as appropriate)

  • Consultation & Collaboration (Support teachers and staff for 14 consult-only students through observation, strategy sharing, classroom modeling, and follow-up, Work closely with classroom teams, social workers, SLPs, administrators, and families to ensure coordinated support.)

  • Caseload Management (Organize and manage a caseload of 44 students with varying service types, Prioritize minutes, plan schedules efficiently, and adjust services based on data and progress.)

  • IEP & Documentation (Complete evaluations, goal writing, progress monitoring, and IEP documentation using Embrace. Participate in meetings, present data clearly, and collaborate on appropriate goals and supports.)

  • COTA Supervision (Provide structured weekly 1:1 supervision to a highly experienced COTA. Review treatment plans, progress, and documentation. Ensure alignment in service delivery while respecting the COTA’s expertise and autonomy.)

  • Evaluation & Eligibility (Conduct OT assessments, interpret results, and contribute to eligibility decisions. Complete reevaluations and problem-solving assessments as needed.)

  • Environmental & Material Adaptations (Recommend and create fine motor tools, sensory supports, adaptive equipment, and positioning solutions. Provide strategies for participation, transitions, regulation, and classroom routines.)


Day One Onboarding

Your first day is designed for immediate success:

  • Set up facility access, school accounts, and technology.
  • Orientation to the building layout, classrooms, therapy spaces, and daily schedule flow.
  • Overview of student locations, teacher assignments, and service schedules.
  • Review of IEPs using Embrace to understand goals, service minutes, and present levels.
  • Introductions to key school staff and families before providing services.
