Structured Learning Classroom (SLC) Teacher — Full Time
Location: Allen, TX
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:15 AM–3:15 PM
Start: Full-Time, On-Campus
A Texas school district in Allen, TX is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and steady Special Education Teacher to lead a Structured Learning Classroom (SLC) serving students with significant support needs. This classroom supports students with predominantly nonverbal Autism, requiring a strong understanding of behavior, communication systems, and functional skill development.
This position is ideal for an educator who thrives in a calm environment, enjoys autonomy, and works well with a supportive but hands-off administrative team.
Caseload: 4 students (cap at 8 students)
Curriculum: Unique Learning System (ULS)—an alternative, standards-aligned curriculum used across Texas
Support Staff: 2 classroom paraprofessionals
Related Services: Speech, OT, PT, and others will push in regularly
Student Profile:
Predominantly nonverbal Autism
AAC devices used regularly
Behavior-based instruction and supports
Some students require toileting assistance and may wear diapers

Provide direct instruction using Unique Learning System curriculum
Implement individualized behavior supports and proactive strategies
Support AAC use and communication goals in daily activities
Collaborate effectively with classroom paraprofessionals
Maintain consistent communication with parents and caregivers
Work closely with related service providers during push-in sessions
Ensure student safety, dignity, and support during daily living tasks, including toileting
Maintain documentation, data collection, and progress monitoring
Foster a positive, patient, and structured learning environment
Texas Special Education EC–12 Certification (Required)
CORE content certification (Preferred, not required)
Strong understanding of Autism and behavior support
Patient, calm, and avoids power struggles
Collaborative and highly communicative—with paras, parents, and service providers
