Junior High School Counselor – Short-Term Contract
Location: Well-resourced, high-performing junior high school in an affluent community
Start Date: January 5th (or sooner) through end of February
Pay: Up to $55/hour

We are seeking an experienced and student-centered School Counselor for a short-term contract at a high-achieving junior high school known for strong academics, proactive student support, and family engagement. This role will step into an established system and provide daily counseling services focused on academic success, social-emotional well-being, and student advocacy.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual counseling for students related to academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs

  • Lead and support small group counseling sessions as needed

  • Assist with academic planning, schedule changes, and student progress monitoring

  • Support students with IEP and 504 plans, including participation in meetings as needed

  • Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, administrators, and support staff

  • Respond to student concerns and crisis situations following school protocols

  • Maintain accurate documentation and case notes in compliance with school and state requirements

  • Collaborate with staff to promote positive school culture, student engagement, and well-being

Ideal Candidate:

  • Licensed or eligible School Counselor

  • Strong skills in communication, organization, and relationship-building

  • Comfortable working in a high-expectations, well-supported environment

  • Able to quickly integrate into an existing counseling team and systems

  • Calm, professional, and proactive in student support
