School Social Worker (Part-Time – Elementary, Self-Contained)

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:45 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch)
Paid Time: 21 hours, 45 minutes per week
Pay Rate: Up to $60/hour
Start Date: February 9, 2026
End Date: April 27, 2026

Position Overview

We are seeking a licensed School Social Worker to support elementary-aged students in a self-contained classroom setting at an elementary school.  This elementary school is part of a high-performing, community-centered school. This role focuses on strengthening students’ social-emotional functioning to help them thrive academically and behaviorally in a structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct social work services to students in a self-contained elementary setting

  • Deliver individual and small-group counseling to support emotional regulation, social skills, coping strategies, and positive peer interactions

  • Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and social-emotional goals outlined in IEPs

  • Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and related services staff to support consistent interventions and student progress

  • Participate in IEP meetings, offering insights into student needs and progress

  • Maintain accurate documentation of services, progress notes, and compliance records

  • Communicate professionally with school staff and families to support student success

Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Worker endorsement

  • Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred

  • Experience in self-contained or special education settings strongly preferred

  • Strong skills in behavior support, emotional regulation strategies, and trauma-informed practices

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
