Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) / Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)

The Mission

We are building a team to do one thing: change the course of 300 students’ lives.

Right now, these students are receiving speech services virtually. At critical developmental ages, that is not enough.

Without strong, in-person intervention:

  • Social development falls behind
  • Academic progress slows
  • Long-term college and career opportunities shrink

In communities like Zion, where students face more risk factors than surrounding areas like Libertyville and Lake Forest the stakes are even higher.

This team exists to change that trajectory now, not years from now.

The Opportunity

We are hiring 7 SLPs/SLPAs to build a dedicated, in-person/hybrid speech team focused on real outcomes, not just service minutes.

This is not a plug-and-play role.
You are stepping into a system that is being rebuilt with the goal of delivering higher-quality, relationship-driven therapy that actually works.

Why This Role Matters

Virtual therapy has clear limitations, especially with younger students:

  • Harder to build trust and meaningful relationships
  • Lower engagement and participation
  • Reduced effectiveness of therapy

This role is about bringing speech services back to where they are most impactful:
face-to-face, consistent, and connected.

What Makes This Unique

  • Founding Team Opportunity – First hires will have priority choice of:
    • Age group
    • Caseload type
  • Mission-Driven Work – Direct impact on 300+ students
  • Interviews begin the first week of April – early applicants will have priority consideration
  • Strong Leadership Team:
    • Director of Special Education – 25+ years (started in the classroom)
    • Assistant Director – 15 years in-district (former special ed teacher)
    • Learning & Development Director – 30 years (background in Libertyville district)

This leadership group is aligned around one goal:
build a better system for students who need it most.
