Special Education Teacher (Leave of Absence)
Location: Half Day School – Lincolnshire, IL
Grade Levels: 3rd Grade
Schedule: Full-Time | Leave Coverage
Pay: $50–$55/hour (based on experience)


Position Overview

We’re seeking a dedicated and collaborative Special Education Teacher to join the team at Half Day School in Lincolnshire, IL, covering a leave of absence for the 2025–2026 school year. This role focuses on push-in and pull-out services, along with direct instruction in math and science for a small group of students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide special education services to students in 3rd grade through push-in, pull-out, and small group instruction (primarily math and science)

  • Serve as the Case Manager for approximately 10 students, including IEP development, implementation, and compliance

  • Use Embrace (IEP platform) and PowerSchool (student data system)

  • Collaborate regularly with GenEd staff, paraprofessionals, and parents to support student goals

  • Modify curriculum when appropriate based on individual student needs


Student Population

Students primarily present with:

  • Learning disabilities in reading (including dyslexia), writing, or math

  • ADHD and executive functioning challenges (e.g., organization, task initiation)

  • May also require targeted support in math and ELA using modified or supplemental curriculum


Curriculum & Tools

  • Math: Bridges (core), Connecting Math Concepts (supplemental)

  • Instruction may require modification to meet IEP goals


Classroom Support

  • At least 2 paraprofessionals in the classroom

  • All staff are trained in CPI and de-escalation techniques

  • Team-based approach to behavior and academic support


Ideal Candidate

  • Holds valid Illinois LBS1 certification

  • Confident managing IEPs and providing differentiated instruction

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Enjoys working in a collaborative, team-first environment

  • Experience with Amplify, Bridges, or Embrace is a plus
