High School Social Worker

Pay: $50–$60 per hour
Schedule: 7:30am – 3:00pm (35 paid hours/week)
Start: Mid to Late March
Duration: Remainder of this school year + 2026–2027 school year
Location: McHenry County (this is a confidential search. more details shared during interview)

Position Overview

We are seeking a High School Social Worker to support a caseload of approximately 35 students. Students require support in coping skills, social skills, empathy development, emotional regulation, and problem-solving. The caseload includes a mix of IEP and 504 students.

This position reports directly to the Principal with a direct line to the Special Education Director. The school environment is highly supportive, collaborative, and team-oriented. Strong case managers are in place.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Student Support

• Provide individual counseling sessions

• Facilitate small group social skills instruction

• Support students with emotional regulation and coping strategies

• Conduct regular check-ins for higher-need students

• Monitor and document progress toward social/emotional goals

IEP & 504 Responsibilities

• Deliver IEP service minutes as written

• Track data and progress on IEP goals

• Participate in IEP and 504 meetings

• Support implementation of accommodations

• Collaborate with case managers and staff

Crisis Management

• Respond to student emotional crises

• Conduct risk assessments and safety planning

• Coordinate with administration and families

• Follow mandated reporting requirements when necessary

Collaboration & Communication

• Partner with teachers to address behavioral and emotional needs

• Communicate with parents regarding student progress

• Participate in problem-solving and support team meetings
