Position Overview

Spotter Staffing is seeking a School Social Worker to support approximately 20–25 students with IEPs in an elementary school setting. This role focuses on helping students develop coping skills, social skills, emotional regulation, and problem-solving abilities so they can be successful both academically and socially.

In addition to IEP services, the social worker will occasionally assist with RTI (Response to Intervention) groups, providing targeted support for students who may need additional social-emotional guidance. This is a long-term opportunity with a supportive school team and the ability to build meaningful relationships with students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and small-group counseling services to students with IEP goals related to social-emotional development.

  • Support students in developing skills in coping strategies, emotional regulation, social interaction, and problem solving.

  • Manage a caseload of approximately 20–25 students and track progress toward IEP goals.

  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to support student success in the classroom.

  • Participate in IEP meetings, helping develop and implement appropriate social-emotional supports.

  • Assist with RTI groups for students who may benefit from short-term social-emotional skill building.

  • Support students during moments of frustration, conflict, or emotional escalation, helping them return to learning.

  • Maintain required documentation and progress monitoring aligned with school and special education guidelines.

  • Communicate with families and school staff regarding student progress and strategies for support.

Typical Day

A typical day includes meeting with students individually or in small groups to work on social-emotional skills such as coping strategies, communication, and problem solving. The social worker also collaborates with teachers and staff, helps support students during challenging moments, and documents progress toward IEP goals.

Ideal Candidate

  • Licensed School Social Worker in Illinois (or eligible for licensure).

  • Experience supporting students with IEPs and social-emotional learning needs.

  • Strong relationship-building skills with students, families, and school staff.
