School Social Worker (Part-Time – Transition Program)

If you’re a social worker who wants to see the real-world impact of your work, this role is different. Instead of being confined to an office, you’ll be working directly with high school students as they build independence, develop social skills, and transition into adulthood—both inside the school and out in the community.

Schedule and Compensation

– Part-time: 3 days per week (ideally Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
– Hours: 7:25 AM – 2:15 PM (students arrive at 7:45 AM)
– Pay: $50–$60 per hour based on experience

About the Role
This position supports a high school transition program serving approximately 20–30 students, with a mix of students both with and without IEPs. Many students receiving services are supported in small groups, with a focus on practical, real-life skill development.

Students in this program range from those needing more structured support to those who are already working jobs and driving. The goal is to help each student continue progressing toward independence in a way that fits their individual path.

Responsibilities

– Provide social work services primarily through small group support
– Push into classrooms and shared settings (such as lunch periods) to support social development in real-time
– Help students build independent living skills, social skills, and job readiness
– Collaborate with a close-knit, experienced team that works well together
– Support community-based learning, including outings like movies, plays, and other public settings
– Contribute to IEP goals and required documentation

What to Expect

– A team environment where staff are experienced, supportive, and aligned
– A program that extends beyond the classroom into real-life experiences
– A balance of structured group work and flexible, in-the-moment support
– The ability to directly see the impact you’re making on students’ futures

Qualifications

– Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Worker endorsement required
– Experience with high school or transition-age students preferred
– Strong relationship-building skills and ability to manage group dynamics
– Comfortable working with a wide range of student needs
