Dual Language (Spanish) Elementary Teacher
Location: Illinois (Elementary School Setting)
Pay: Up to $70/hour
Start Date: August 17, 2026 (2026–2027 School Year)
Position Overview
We are seeking a fluent Spanish-speaking Dual Language Teacher to support elementary students in a bilingual classroom environment. This role is focused on delivering academic instruction in both English and Spanish while helping students develop language proficiency, literacy, and confidence across both languages.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team committed to student growth, cultural inclusion, and high-quality instruction.
Schedule (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:45 AM – 4:15 PM, Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 3:45 PM)
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction in both Spanish and English across core subjects (literacy, math, etc.)
- Support bilingual language development through structured dual-language models (e.g., 50/50 or 80/20)
- Adapt lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English Language Learners
- Assess student progress in both languages and adjust instruction accordingly
- Collaborate with general education teachers, ESL staff, and support services
- Build strong relationships with students and families from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Create an inclusive, engaging classroom environment that supports academic and social growth
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide accommodations when needed
What a Typical Day Looks Like
You’ll rotate between English and Spanish instruction, lead small group work, support language development, and collaborate with staff—all while keeping students engaged and progressing academically in both languages.
Required Qualifications
To be eligible, candidates must hold ONE of the following credentials issued by the Illinois State Board of Education:
Professional Educator License (PEL) with:
– Bilingual Education Teacher – Spanish endorsement AND
– English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement
OR
– PEL with appropriate content endorsement AND
– Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) with Transitional Bilingual Educator (TBE) endorsement (Spanish)
OR
– Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) with Transitional Bilingual Educator (TBE) endorsement (Spanish)
Note: The ELS-TBE is a temporary credential that allows you to teach while completing full licensure requirements.
Must-Have Skills on Day One
- Fluency in Spanish and English (spoken and written)
- Ability to manage a classroom and deliver structured lessons
- Strong understanding of language acquisition and differentiated instruction
- Confidence working with elementary-aged students in a bilingual setting
