Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A) – Maternity Leave Coverage

Position Type: Full-Time, On-Site (Temporary)
Schedule: Monday–Thursday (4-day week) with occasional Fridays
Hours: 7:15 AM – 4:00 PM (40 hours/week)
Assignment Length: 12 Weeks

We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A) to provide 12-week maternity leave coverage in a supportive school district in Terrell, TX. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across two campuses, supporting both middle school students and an elementary autism classroom, within a strong, team-oriented special education environment.
Caseload of approximately 60 students across both campuses
Provide direct therapy services under the supervision of a licensed SLP
Serve:
Middle school students (grades 6–8) with a range of communication needs
One elementary AU (Autism) self-contained classroom
Support students with varying levels of communication needs, including those who may be nonverbal
Implement therapy plans, collect data, and maintain accurate documentation using Frontline
Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and the supervising SLP
Support carryover of communication strategies across classroom environments
Highly supportive district and campus leadership
Strong collaboration among special education staff and related service providers
Campuses are within a reasonable distance, allowing for efficient scheduling
Structured systems in place, including Frontline for documentation
Positive, team-focused culture
Active Texas SLP-A license
Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field
Experience with autism and/or self-contained classrooms preferred
School-based experience preferred, but not required
Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
