School Social Worker – Full-Time Opening for 2026-27 School Year
Location: Two (2) school locations, Blue Island, IL
Pay: $48 and up
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am- 3:15pm
School district is seeking two dedicated and student-centered School Social Workers to support specialized and alternative programming within a collaborative K-8 district environment. These positions provide the opportunity to work alongside supportive counselors, educators, and multidisciplinary teams focused on early intervention, student growth, and social-emotional success.
This position is dedicated to supporting an intensive communication program. The Social Worker will provide direct IEP services, SEL support, counseling, and collaboration for students with intensive communication and social-emotional needs within a structured and supportive educational setting.
Position Overview:
- Provide direct social work services aligned with IEPs, 504 Plans, and MTSS supports
- Conduct individual and small-group counseling sessions
- Facilitate social-emotional learning groups, peer groups, grief/loss groups, and support groups
- Collaborate closely with counselors, teachers, administrators, families, and related service staff
- Participate in IEP meetings, problem-solving meetings, and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Support behavioral, emotional, and social-emotional student needs
- Assist with crisis intervention and proactive intervention planning
- Maintain compliant documentation and service tracking through Embrace
Caseload Overview
- Average direct IEP service minutes range approximately 650–800 minutes weekly
- Total weekly support minutes may range approximately 1,100–1,200 minutes including MTSS and SEL services
- Support may include:
- Students with IEPs
- Students receiving MTSS interventions
- Students with 504 Plans
- SEL-focused student support services
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Work required
- Illinois PEL with School Social Worker endorsement required
- Experience supporting students with social-emotional, behavioral, and communication needs preferred
- Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills
- Experience facilitating counseling groups and SEL interventions preferred
- Familiarity with Embrace is a plus
