Location: Near Libertyville, IL
Schedule: M, T, Th, F: 7:20 AM – 2:50 PM | W: 7:20 AM – 3:05 PM
Start Date: August 17, 2026
Duration: Full 2026–2027 school year
Pay Rate: $50–$53/hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a Special Education Resource Teacher to support a caseload of 8–10 middle school students across two buildings. This is an instructional role, not a study hall — the teacher is expected to deliver direct, targeted instruction in reading comprehension and math, not simply supervise homework completion.
Schedule Breakdown
- Morning session: 8th grade students (minimal behavioral concerns)
- Afternoon session: Remaining caseload, second building
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, small-group and individualized instruction focused primarily on reading comprehension and math
- Implement and progress-monitor IEP goals as written; provide input to the case manager
- Manage transitions between two buildings independently and on schedule
- Communicate with parents/guardians as needed (this role is not the primary case manager)
- Address executive functioning gaps, task initiation/completion difficulties, and work refusal using proactive, structured strategies
- Collaborate with general education teachers, case managers, and support staff on accommodations
- Maintain accurate service logs and documentation
Student Profile
- Middle school students (8th grade in AM)
- Behaviors: minimal
- Primary challenges: executive functioning, task completion, work refusal
- Academic needs: reading comprehension and math support most common
Requirements
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement
- Strong independent work skills — this person will manage two buildings/schedules without daily oversight
- Experience differentiating reading and math instruction for students with IEPs
- Comfortable communicating with parents in a supporting (non-case-manager) capacity
- Strong classroom/behavior management for executive functioning and motivation-based behaviors
What Sets a Strong Candidate Apart
- Has run a resource room independently before (not just as an aide/para)
- Treats resource time as instructional time, every session
- Comfortable owning logistics across two locations without hand-holding
