Make a Meaningful Difference Every Day

Spotter Staffing is partnering with a therapeutic day school in the Chicagoland area to hire a dedicated Special Education Teacher. This contract-to-hire opportunity is ideal for educators who are passionate about supporting students with unique learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs in a structured, highly supportive environment.

This school serves middle and high school students who have experienced significant challenges in traditional educational settings. Many students have emotional disabilities, learning disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, or other health impairments that impact their ability to be successful in a general education environment. Students often benefit from individualized instruction, predictable routines, therapeutic support, and strong relationships with trusted adults.

The school's mission is to help students build academic skills, develop emotional regulation, improve social skills, increase independence, and prepare for successful transitions into adulthood.

What You'll Do

  • Provide individualized instruction aligned with students' IEP goals and academic needs.
  • Create a structured, supportive classroom where students feel safe, respected, and motivated to learn.
  • Implement behavior intervention strategies and reinforce positive behavioral supports.
  • Help students develop executive functioning, coping strategies, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate daily with social workers, therapists, administrators, related service providers, and families.
  • Monitor academic and behavioral progress while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to individualized programming for each student.

Student Population

You'll work with students who may:

  • Have Emotional Disabilities (ED), Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or Other Health Impairments (OHI).
  • Experience anxiety, emotional dysregulation, or behavioral challenges that interfere with learning.
  • Need consistent routines, clear expectations, and individualized behavioral supports.
  • Benefit from smaller class sizes, frequent positive reinforcement, and personalized instruction.
  • Be working toward improving academic achievement, self-advocacy, social skills, and independent living skills alongside traditional coursework.

Success in this role comes from building strong relationships, maintaining consistency, celebrating small victories, and helping students develop the confidence and skills they need to succeed.

Why You'll Love This Opportunity

  • Small class sizes that allow you to build meaningful relationships with students.
  • Collaborative team of educators, therapists, social workers, and administrators.
  • Strong clinical and administrative support.
  • Opportunity to see measurable academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth.
  • Contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term career potential.
  • Every day offers the chance to make a lasting impact on students who benefit from patient, compassionate educators.

Qualifications

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement required.
  • Experience working with students with emotional, behavioral, or learning needs is preferred but not required.
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, flexible, and solution-oriented in a dynamic classroom environment.
  • Passion for helping students reach their full academic, social, and emotional potential.
