This school district is seeking an experienced Behavior Teacher to join a highly supportive special education team at an Elementary School. This position serves students in a Structured Learning Classroom (SLC) and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working alongside a collaborative team of educators and administrators.
This classroom is designed for students who benefit from intensive behavioral support while continuing to access academic instruction. Many students are cognitively capable and participate in general education for part of the school day based on their behavioral and academic progress.
Full-time position serving students in Grades 1–5
Structured Learning Classroom (SLC)
Approximately half of the students participate in general education instruction throughout the day
One dedicated paraprofessional assigned to the classroom
Strong administrative and special education support
Special Education offices located in the same building
Collaborative multidisciplinary team
Positive Behavior Support model with established resources
Provide academic instruction in a Structured Learning Classroom
Develop and implement behavior intervention strategies that promote student success
Foster a positive, structured, and predictable learning environment
Support students in developing self-regulation, social-emotional, and communication skills
Collaborate with general education teachers to facilitate successful inclusion opportunities
Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
Collect behavioral and academic data to monitor student progress
Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary team members
Participate in ARD meetings and other required campus meetings
Every Day Speech social skills curriculum
CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) strategies for prevention and de-escalation
Strong campus and district-level behavioral support
Collaborative special education leadership team
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
Core Content Certification
Special Education Certification
Experience working with students exhibiting behavioral challenges preferred
Knowledge of positive behavior supports, de-escalation strategies, and classroom management
CPI experience preferred (or willingness to complete training)
