Position Overview

Spotter Staffing is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support a Chicago-area high school for the 2026–2027 school year. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator to make a meaningful impact by providing specialized instruction and supporting students with diverse learning needs.

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about IEPs, comfortable collaborating with general education teachers and support staff, and committed to helping students achieve their academic and postsecondary goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to high school students with disabilities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and accommodations.
  • Monitor student progress and use data to adjust instruction.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support students in inclusive settings.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Provide appropriate accommodations and modifications based on student needs.
  • Establish a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with related service providers, families, and school staff.
  • Support students in developing academic, social-emotional, and independent living skills.
  • Help prepare students for college, career, and other postsecondary opportunities.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other school activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with LBS1 endorsement preferred/required.
  • Previous special education teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience working with high school students is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
