Middle School Special Education Teacher (Essential Academics)

Spotter Staffing has partnered with a fantastic school district seeking a Middle School Special Education Teacher for a self-contained Essential Academics classroom. This unique position offers a four-day workweek, a small classroom setting with paraprofessional support, competitive pay, strong district support, and incredible benefits!

Qualifications for Special Education Teacher candidates include:

  • Valid Texas EC–12 Special Education certification
  • Appropriate Core Subjects 4–8 certification
  • Experience working with students with Autism and/or Intellectual Disabilities preferred
  • Self-contained or Life Skills classroom experience preferred
  • Strong classroom and behavior management skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
  • Experience supporting students with significant communication and functional needs is a plus

Hours for Special Education Teacher:

  • Four days per week, with most Mondays off
  • 7:00 AM – 3:45 PM
  • 181 contract days
  • 2026–2027 School Year
  • 45-minute daily preparation period

Compensation for Special Education Teacher:

  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience
  • Uncapped bonus potential

Special Education Teacher position details:

  • Grades 6–8
  • Self-contained Essential Academics classroom
  • Approximately 11 students
  • Two classroom paraprofessionals for additional support
  • Students with a variety of academic, behavioral, communication, and functional needs
  • Majority of students have Autism and/or Intellectual Disabilities
  • Some students utilize alternative methods of communication
  • Opportunity to teach functional academics, communication, social, adaptive, and independent living skills
  • District-provided CPI training
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) with other teachers
  • Collaborative campus and special education team
  • Unique four-day-per-week school schedule
