Qualifications for Special Education Academic Vocational Life Skills Teacher candidates include:

• Valid Texas Special Education certification
• Appropriate Texas Core Content certification
• EC–6 Core Subjects certification may qualify for the core-content requirement for this assignment
• Life Skills, vocational, transition, or self-contained classroom experience preferred
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals, families, educators, and related service providers

Hours for Special Education Academic Vocational Life Skills Teacher:

• Full-Time
• Monday–Friday during standard school hours
• 2026–2027 School Year

Compensation for Special Education Academic Vocational Life Skills Teacher:

• $48–$54 per hour based on experience
• Uncapped bonus potential

Special Education Academic Vocational Life Skills Teacher position details:

• High school special education setting
• Provide individualized and small-group instruction
• Teach functional academics and practical application of academic skills
• Help students develop vocational and employment-readiness skills
• Support independent living, communication, social, and self-advocacy skills
• Develop and monitor individualized IEP goals
• Participate in ARD/IEP meetings
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary educational teams
• Help prepare students for increased independence and successful transition beyond high school
